Carl "Twofeathers"
Whitaker plans to run for Governor of Tennessee in 2010 on the
promise He will be the peoples Governor, meaning he will work for
the people of Tennessee, not for just a select few. Carl runs
on the promise of lowering taxes on food while seeking to improve
the way of life in Tennessee for all.
This page is just an insight to some of the platform we plan to run
on in 2010. We invite you to email us with your comments and
suggestions on how we can better serve Tennessee.

Carl Whitaker on the
issues that are important to the state of Tennessee.
Immigration: As having first hand experience dealing
with immigration issues, including the handling of illegal aliens
not only in Tennessee, but across the United States, Carl is committed
to the enforcement of the laws of the State of Tennessee and the
U.S. Constitution. Anyone here illegally must be dealt with
according to the law, deported and those who employ illegal's
punished to the fullest extent of the law. Carl does not
believe the state should issue driver's license and state medical
insurance to illegal aliens. Carl has great compassion for the
families affected by this problem on both sides of the issue but
feels the law must be upheld first before any conversation takes
place regarding an individual receiving benefits from the state of
Tennessee who is actually not even a citizen of either the state of
Tennessee or the nation.
Ethics: These past few years of Tennessee Politics has shown us a great deal
of dirty deals. From the Tennessee Waltz sting to the Corrupt
State-Trooper deal the common thing to expect from politicians in
Nashville is bribes and deals, unlawful use of office for personal
gain.
Carl will not take bribes and will push to have the Ethics Committee
into Capitol Hill to weed out the wrongdoers and to see honor and
dignity restored to the office of the Governor.
TENN-Care Reform: The Bredesen administration has made
a further a mess of the already
corrupt TENN-Care state healthcare system. Reform was necessary, but kicking people
off who truly need it and continuing some of those who do not is an
unjust and simply wrong way of trying to “Fix” the problem, Carl
seeks to work to remove the corruption from TENN-Care and re-instate
those who truly need it.
Terrorism And Responses
Carl promises to do all he
can as governor of Tennessee to protect the citizens from terrorism
and its threats to not only our homeland, but also our state.
Whether the terrorism is domestic or foreign, Carl will take
whatever steps are necessary to protect and shore up the safety of
the state's nuclear facilities. In addition, he will do all things
to work with the federal government to ensure the safety at all
times of Tennessee's citizens. Should a terrorist attack take place,
Carl is dedicated to a quick response of Tennessee's state resources
and working with the federal government to get quick aid for our
citizens.
Tornado Sirens
Over the past few years,
Tennessee has lost a great number of lives to sudden and destructive
tornadoes, especially in the western part of the state near Memphis
and Jackson. On Super Tuesday, February 5, 2008, the state lost
nearly 30 lives to these type of destructive storms, many of which
struck small towns without any type of warning system in place.
We believe that the policy in place that says schools need to have
weather radios in operation to warn them of such severe weather
events be implemented. Carl pledges to ensure to obtain federal
funding that is readily available to states for the construction of
early warning sirens. Our communities and citizens need these sirens
erected to warn them of dangerous weather and to protect the lives
of the citizens.
Education: It is a fact that the public schools in the cities where there is a
higher population and thus a seemingly greater need of improvement,
have for unjustified purposes, been granted more funding
disproportionate to those schools in the rural areas and small
towns. This is unfair and the monies intended for schools should be evenly
divided across the state, proportional to their needs and
population, not to favor a potential voting block. Carl believes
that state lottery funds should be disbursed not just to colleges
but to K-12 schools; Carl feels that education on the lower levels
sets the standard of learning for the college level meaning if one
does not get a proper education in grammar, middle and high school
then their level of learning will be insufficient in college.
Gun Rights: The 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is such an integral part
of our ways of American freedom that they cannot be forgotten and
should always be supported.
Abortion: The protection of the life of the unborn, innocent citizens of our
State should be defended at all costs. Bold legislation in states
such as South Dakota have put to the test the ruling of the Supreme
Court’s decision in Roe vs. Wade and other decisions, where the
choice of legalizing abortion was left entirely up to the individual
States. Furthermore, the misconception that outlawing abortion will
cause it to occur more is bogus, the legalization of anything will
naturally increase it's occurrence.
In office Carl will advocate the rights of the unborn and support
similar legislation to ban abortion across the board, bringing this
matter up for majority vote by the citizens of Tennessee, allowing
the people to decide if this abomination of the murder of innocent
children should be allowed to continue.
Marriage: Marriage is simply stated as: the union of one man and one woman,
anything else is not marriage. Every person has a right to live the
way they see fit, but no minority should force the
majority to
change an age-old institution, such as marriage.
Environment: As it is Carl’s belief that we are caretakers of God’s creation, he
has a commitment, as we all do, to take care of the environment.
There are obvious abuses that can easily occur on both sides of this
matter, but there is a healthy medium and it is in this that Carl
Twofeathers is committed to preserving the environment for us to
enjoy and our children to continue to preserve.
Agra-Tourism: This is a must. Carl will give his full support to the farmers
across Tennessee. Carl believes that there should be more farm
programs for youth to increase awareness at an early age of farming
and its related methods and benefit to our state's economy and
future. Being raised on a farm as a child, Carl understands
the need of our farmers and believes he unlike other candidates will
have the farmer's interest at heart knowing what they are up against
economically in facing a tough market of competition and pricing for
their goods. Agra -Tourism will be greatly encouraged and supported
in a Carl Whitaker governorship.
Veterans Needs. Carl will create a panel to help our Veterans here in Tennessee
where they may receive help. There should never be a veteran or
anyone left homeless out on the street here in Tennessee. We owe
them that much and as governor Carl pledges to do all he can to
ensure there are no veterans left out in the cold.
Taxes on Food
Tennessee has the highest
level on food than any state in the nation; Carl pledges to seek
ways to lower those taxes to ensure more affordable for the people
of Tennessee and keep a bit more change in their pockets. Lower
taxes are never bad for the citizens and Carl will look at all areas
of the tax system in the state to see where taxes can be lowered
without affecting state revenues.
Give the people of Tennessee back their rights.
Children's Services
Children's protective
services in Tennessee at the present time needs a tremendous
restructuring
and overhaul of its
present policies and personnel. Many untrained and unskilled
counselors are in charge of protecting Tennessee's most valuable
treasures- our children. Many abuse complaints are going unchecked
or complaints that are frivolous are being investigated instead of
resources being placed on those complaints that are genuine and
real. As Governor I will seek to optimize all our Children's
Services departments and seek to end this practice to ensure the
safety and protection of our young people in the state. I will
require all counselors to go through a training check up every six
months to make sure each one is doing their job and the department
is running at full optimization. This is a serious issue in
Tennessee at the present time and one that is not being addressed or
dealt with by the current administration. We need to move quickly
and as Governor I promise to make this one of the first priorities
when elected to office.
